My iPhone7 will connect to the computer, but as soon as I try to transfer documents, I get a notification that the device is "unreachable" and it will no longer let me transfer any documents. Anyone got any tips on where to go from here? I am trying to back it up so I can get the battery replaced without losing any of my photos, videos or documents.

Are you using the original USB cable, that came with the iPhone?
Did you try to connect to another USB port on your computer?

You could also use iCloud to store your photos and documents, at least for the time your device is being serviced.

Then syncing the photos to iCloud, or another Cloud service would be the only option.
No, iTunes had uninstalled itself from my laptop and when I reinstalled it it could not connect as the phone was “unreachable”. I even tried resetting the privacy settings to allow and trust the computer again. None of this worked. My next step would to do a factory reset but I do not want to lose the photos and videos currently on the phone.
these phones are more powerful then the computers that put men on the moon, but apple has somehow mangaed to make something as simple as transferring photos onto a PC a bloody nightmare. I am sure this is done on purpose to push their crappy cloud storage plans. Who has time for this?
I have this problem since a while too and its literally becoming impossible to SIMPLY COPY my pictures to my computer. This always worked and is a basic function that needs to work! This issue is wasting my time and I dont really want to keep troubleshooting this anylonger - I simply do not have the time to do so!
APPLE!!! When are you going to fix this problem, there are hundreds of people with this issue and we desperately need a solution!!! (and its not to change any settings to keep original formats of pictures, the simple copy simply has to work properly!)
And dont suggest to use iCloud as I do not want to use iCloud, I simply want to use a basic computer function to copy files, its pathetic this does not work anymore!
