This isn't necessarily an app-breaking bug but it is certainly annoying.
Often, but not every time, I receive a new message to my Messages app, the app will quit and then show the (1) badge indicating an unread message. It occurs when the app is not the current window, but I have not specifically tried this to see if it would occur when the app is the current window.
