File sharing accross platforms

If I create or modify a Word or Excel file on a Mac and then email to a Windows user will they be able to read it? Or do I have to do something specific before sending to Windows users?

MS Office documents are compatible with Office on both Windows and Mac.

There is nothing special you need to do.

File sharing is pretty simple these days. Apple explains in https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/set-up-file-sharing-on-mac-mh17131/mac .

However to answer your question directly yes, MS Office files created on different platforms can be shared.

I was hoping that was the answer... just didn't know with the different file systems if anything needed to be done to address that. Glad to hear this.
