Can it be updated to a newer OS version?

I have iPad model MD518LL/A. It is currently at OS10.3.4. Can it be updated to a newer OS version?

No.

If your iPad has been stuck on iOS 10.3.3 for the past few years, with no upgrades/updates forthcoming, then you

own an iPad 4th generation.

A 4th gen iPad cannot be upgraded beyond iOS 10.3.3/10.3.4.

A 4th gen iPad is an over 7-year old device, now!

Its internal hardware is too old, too underpowered and completely incompatible with any current and future versions of iOS.

Sorry. It is what it is.

If you need/want an iPad that can run the latest and greatest versions of iOS, as well as, the most current apps available, then, you will need to purchase a new iPad from Apple or a discounted, refurbished iPad from Apple’s Refurbished & Clearance section of Apple’s Website.

Best of Luck to You!

Save yourself some cash and look at the 128 GBs. 10.2 inch screen iPad 7th gen, instead.

You are not adding that many new features for the cost of the more expensive iPad Air 3.

Both still use the 1st generation Apple Pencil.

Both only have the one-sided pair of speakers.

Both have an internal 3 GBs of RAM.

The screens are both very close in size to not be noticeable unless looking at both side by side.

Both use a Home button with Touch ID.

Not a lot a differences for the extra uptick in pricing for the iPad Air 3 version.

It is just a price difference for the up to date CPU in the Air 3 and the laminated, Trutone display.

Are these differences enough for you to justify thr more expensive pricing of the iPad Air 3?

What do you do with your 4th generation iPad that you need that much more power of the iPad Air 3?

The 7th gen, 10.2 inch screen iPad is going to be a big leap ahead from your over 7-year old iPad 4.

Can it be updated to a newer OS version?
