Mac OS Catalina cannot open captive portal

Hi, I am having issue using my Macbook Pro to connect to public WIFI. The WIFI shows connected, but no captive portal is activated after connection. I tried to open some web to initiate the login page but not helpful. Anyone having the same issue after upgrading? Any solutions? Thanks in advance!

Wifi does not recognise captive portal after upgrade to Catalina Ever since I have updated to MacOS Catalina, the wifi does not recognise some captive portal based wifi networks. The wifi appears to connect OK and is assigned an IP address, router and DNS server, so DHCP is fine, but the floating window with the normal login details doesn't appear. If I navigate to the router IP address in my browser, sometimes it will show the login page but entering the required details fails to activate the Internet connection. Anybody got any ideas for a fix?

Unable to connect to public wifi Hi, I upgraded to macOS Catalina the second it released and now I find my self in a piccle.. I am unable to connect to public wifi, either in a coffee shop or a hotel I have tried manually entering captive.apple.com/hotspot-detect.html and the window pops up but it is just blank. I have tried turning wifi on and off, have restarted my Mac, and flushed dns cache, but nothing seems to work. I also do not use 3rd party DNS. I am using Safari as a browser.

Solved: Why captive portal won’t connect. currently on Version 12.3.1 Monterey also tested on Sierra When connecting to a public wifi that uses captive.portal.com to connect to the portal I got the following message. ”Could not connect” safari can’t find server safari can’t open page “https://captive.portal.com” because Safari can’t find the server “captive.portal.com” Solution 1: Remove all hard coded DNS Servers from (System Preferences—-> Network ——-> Wifi Connection ——> Advanced ——> DNS) Solution 2: Wipe all cookies and Website data from within the time you got the message. Solution 3: Disconnect and reconnect to the wifi Solution 4: Open a safari browser and navigate to the FQDN of the portal. if it presents success you are now on, if it does not please see solution 1 hope that helps as the last existing thread did not do much for me.
