Mac Pro 2019 - WiFi Upgradability

in the spec, the Mac Pro come with WiFi 802.11AC (WiFi 5)

Is it on a separate module, so we could change it to WiFi 6 one day ?

I tend to suspect that the WiFi component is going to be soldered to the logic board. This will prevent the sort of upgrades people did for example with the classic Mac Pro models - including myself.

However a full size PCIe card would be a possibility should one be launched as would be a USB adapter.

I tend to suspect a USB adapter is a more likely option.

The iFixit website will likely do a takeapart article which will itemise the logic board components and provide a confirmation for us. Based on the handful of 'launch' pictures from Apple nearly a year ago now I did not see any sub-module that could be swapped that looked like a WiFi card hence my belief it is soldered on to the logic board.

Arguably this is another example of the 'new' Mac Pro already being significantly obsolete even before it (finally) shipped due to the extreme length of time Apple have taken. The RAM, CPU chip, PCIe slots, and video cards are all also now at least a generation out of date. Despite this it is of course still a fantastically powerful machine easily able to meet current demands. The problem will be whether Apple update it in a timely manner as being arguably already out of date it is going to fall even further behind as time passes.

It should be noted that even if you buy the (expensive) wheels for the new Mac Pro it is not a 'portable' device and might be better off using Ethernet as it has built-in 10Gbps Ethernet support. Of course to utilise things like Handoff, Continuity, etc. you need WiFi as well.
