Macbook Pro will not charge after update to Catalina

I upgraded to Catalina last night, and this morning when i turned on my Macbook Pro it will not take a charge from the power adapter connected through any of the USB-C plugs.

A few notes:

  • This is a mid-2019 Macbook Pro 15" with touchbar
  • I'm using the official Apple charger and usb-c cord that came with the laptop (and which worked in the same outlet yesterday)

Here are the things I've tried so far:

  • restart the laptop
  • shutdown and restart
  • try a different wall outlet
  • reset the SMC (through 4 different methods i've seen in the official article, I do have the T2 Chip)
  • reset the NVRAM/PRAM

I don't have an alternate USB-C charger or cable so i can't rule that out, and I've got an appointment at the genius bar for (MUCH LATER) today, but hoping to find a fix before then (as the batter will be dead by then)

I also can't downgrade back to mojave because i don't have an external drive, and there's no way the battery will last that long anyway.

Frustratingly enough, it seems to work fine now. All i did was walk away for a few hours with it plugged in and got some work done on my PC while waiting for my Genius Bar appointment.

I recall reading some other support article about some system stuff happening in the background that could take up to 24 hours and it would resolve itself.

Hopefully it doesn't just stop working again all of the sudden again in the future, but at least it's working now.
