Family Screentime Blank

Hi, we’ve been using family screentime for a while and it works well. Tonight one of the kids requested more time but the request never arrived on my phone (all iOS 13.2.3)

on my phone, in family sharing, screen time is switched on.... but when I tap on it, it brings up a completely blank screen.

previously it would show the two kids accounts and the details of the setting on each.

it still seems to be set up, but nothing is displaying when I tap on screen time.

I've seen from searching here it’s been a common-ish occurrence since the beginning of 2019 on iOS 12.

Ive also got the kids accounts set up so that they have to request if they want to install something from the App Store. These requests are still working, as are find family, Apple Music sharing etc.

its creative there’s an ongoing issue with family screen time that needs resolving. Resetting the device as new isn’t an option. Please can we have this escalated to the product team to take a look at.

one though is that MDM (mobile device management) might be getting in the way? I’d be curious if others with the issue have perhaps a corporate mobile device management app Installed, such as Microsoft Intune.

Hi,

I suffered the exact same screen time blank screen issue when I upgraded my iPhone currently running iOS 13.3. I synced my old phone with my new one which was probably the cause. The only thing that worked for me was to sign out of my iCloud account then sign back in on the new device. Hope this helps.

Thanks Bryan, I’ll do that.

one further update, which may be helpful for other readers.

i only have one device (my iPhone) with my account on it. Following the issues yesterday, I didn’t want to reset my iPhone again, so I phoned an old iPhone SE in my drawer in work, updated it to 13.3 iOS then reset it. At this point I set it up as a second personal device, using the same account I use on my iPhone with this family screen time issue. I didn’t restore from backup on this second device.

when I looked at the screen time settings for my family, they were all there (no blank screen). So I went back and checked on my iPhone XS and the blank screen had gone and all was back to normal.

It therefore seems that this issue is related to syncing settings back after an iPhone does an update.

@ripped53, I was a little hesitant too. However, after signing out and signing back in again the worst I had to do was to re-add my bank cards to Apple Wallet. By that I don't mean I had to re-scan and fill out all the details again, as the card details were stored. I just had to tap an 'Add to wallet' button. All in all it was pretty painless but, of course, my setup may be wholly different to yours. Good luck!

Hi XR219,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand you're unable to manage Screen Time, as a blank screen appears on your iPhone. I'll be happy to help and point you in the right direction.

If you haven't tried yet, I recommend to restart your iPhone, as this helps resolve unexpected behavior: Restart your iPhone In addition, I recommend having your kid's device updated to the latest software version. Here's how: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Kind regards.

Hi,

if you actually weren’t a bot you’d have read my post we’re it says all devices are on the latest iOS.

since resetting my phone on the last occasion and removing the MDM, it was working fine. But again today it’s gone blank. Worse this time is that my children can actually go into their devices and switch off screen time without being challenged for a pass code. All devices (including the kids iPhone and iPad) are running 13.3. How do we escalate this issue and stop getting responses from bots?

latest screen grab from my iPhone is included below. Yes all the devices have been restarted. The screenshot below shows what I see when I go into settings > AppleID > Family Sharing> screen time
