The “iPhone USB” network interface has not been set up. To set up this interface, use Network Preferences.

Anyone know why after a month of not backing up my iPhone XS running 13.2.3 and connecting it to my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) running High Sierra 10.13.6 itunes can't recognise my iPhone when I connect it via USB? all I get is :

I tried adding the USB device in Network settings as a device and all that happens is no message above an still no sight of my iPhone showing up in iTunes?

In Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.
