Fujitsu Scansnap models

My Fujitsu Scansnap won't work now that I have upgraded my software. That is a huge price to pay for the update. Is there a work around or can I uninstall and go back to the old Mac software? The new Fujits's are $500+ each and this is my home computer I don't use often. I had no idea when I updated it was going to force me to replace my old scanners. Any ideas? I already bought a new one at the office. Thanks.

The paid, non-subscription, 64-bit VueScan product supports a bunch of Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners without any Fujitsu software or drivers necessary. If you can live with Image Capture, then use it. If you cannot, then VueScan may offer a more robust scanning experience specifically designed for your ScanSnap, at far less expense than a new scanner purchase.

I have owned VueScan Professional since 2010, and use it with an ancient Canon scanner. I have never paid an update charge for the frequent VueScan updates, and am neither affiliated with the VueScan vendor, nor receive any compensatory benefit from mentioning the software here.

Most experienced users use Image Capture for their default scanning app as it is integrated into Mac OS. For really old legacy scanners that still have life in them and are not supported by Image Capture, Vuescan is an excellent alternative. You can navigate to Vuescan's site, download the app for your scanner and try it out and determine if that is the direction you want to take. Much less expensive than replacing the device and , much less trouble trying to go backwards on Mac OS which at best is a short term solution that will eventually paint you into a corner. With Technology if you don't move forward, you will experience problems that are more than frustrating, they are extremely expensive!

I just know that in order to keep your software and hardware running smoothly you need to keep the devices up-to-date. That is not technical it's just smart. Please believe me, I'm not saying your are not smart I'm just saying with technical products likes scanners, printer, computers, phones anything you are doing yourself a favor by keeping them up-to-date.

I'm glad you are pleased with your scanners, however please before updating your operating system (on ANY computer) ensure your software is up-to-date and see if the developers of your peripherals (in this case the scanners) are supported by the developers on the new OS. If they are not then you need to seek alternatives so you have a plan.

The Fujitsu scanners are the very best product ever. I have 4 of them. All computers use them. So easy. It’s a good thing. But I guess they want you to have to update them every now and then. I got my first one in 2007! They give you $200 off for the update- of course off the most expensive one! 😎 I just should not have updated the home computer. Am not a computer person. You sound like one. Thanks!
