Clips app "Recording disabled during a call"

The clips app is giving me this message every time I try and record, "Recording is disabled while a call is in progress." I'm not on a phone call so it shouldn't be doing this. And I can't click on the record button or any other buttons, the app kinda freezes. I've tried uninstalling and installing it but I'm still getting the same error message.

Voice memos recording errors Good morning. In the last couple days I have encountered errors with the Apple voice memos app that are cutting off my recordings when they are made and keeping me from recording full conversations. I have used the app to make recordings without problem for several years now but suddenly there are issues this week. I'm not sure if the app was recently updated. If so there is clearly a bug in the update, but I can't delete the app and reinstall it because I would lose all my old recordings. My iOS and the app are both up to date. Here's a more detailed description of the problem: At the end of a recording when I go to stop the recording, the pause button is there but not the stop button. Pausing the recording won't allow me to return to the main list of recordings, and the pause button does not behave normally. At this point, the app shows the full recording time but when I go to rename the recording file, the recording suddenly truncates the file taking a 30 minute conversation and only leaving the first few minutes of it. Restarting the app and the phone don't do anything to help. The rest of the recording is simply gone. I can't tell if the error in the file is occurring when the phone screen auto locks, but the phone settings won't let me extend the auto lock function beyond 5 minutes so there is no way to test whether keeping the phone from locking would prevent the problem. I would appreciate any advice on fixing the problem beyond updating the app and iOS because those are already up to date. Can anyone tell me if the app was updated this week? Is anyone else having similar problems with it? Will another update to the app be issued soon? If no fix is immediately available, I'll be forced to turn to third party recording apps.

Voice Memo stops 5 mins into message when listening I have iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 14.7.1, my friend has an iPhone 7. We use the Voice Memo app to record conversations back and forth usually about 20 minutes in length. She has the same issue on hers as well. I open the recording on my phone that she has sent and about 5 minutes into it, it just stops and closes the audio and the app! I thought at first it had something to do with the screen going dark after so many minutes, but I also have an iPad. If I listen to the recording on the iPad, it plays the entire thing with no problem. What is the problem here? Anyone??

Iphone Voice Memo App Pauses After 3 Minutes Recently the Apple Voice Memo recording pauses after 3 minutes and requires tapping the pause button to start again. This makes the app unusable for recording anything longer than 3 minutes. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I don't think it has to necessarily be a 'call'. I had a similar issue and it turned out that some app I had backgrounded, but not quit, was to blame. Once I killed all the apps in the background and opened Clips up again the message no longer appeared and I could record.
