Voice memos recording errors
Good morning. In the last couple days I have encountered errors with the Apple voice memos app that are cutting off my recordings when they are made and keeping me from recording full conversations. I have used the app to make recordings without problem for several years now but suddenly there are issues this week. I'm not sure if the app was recently updated. If so there is clearly a bug in the update, but I can't delete the app and reinstall it because I would lose all my old recordings. My iOS and the app are both up to date.
Here's a more detailed description of the problem:
At the end of a recording when I go to stop the recording, the pause button is there but not the stop button. Pausing the recording won't allow me to return to the main list of recordings, and the pause button does not behave normally. At this point, the app shows the full recording time but when I go to rename the recording file, the recording suddenly truncates the file taking a 30 minute conversation and only leaving the first few minutes of it. Restarting the app and the phone don't do anything to help. The rest of the recording is simply gone.
I can't tell if the error in the file is occurring when the phone screen auto locks, but the phone settings won't let me extend the auto lock function beyond 5 minutes so there is no way to test whether keeping the phone from locking would prevent the problem.
I would appreciate any advice on fixing the problem beyond updating the app and iOS because those are already up to date. Can anyone tell me if the app was updated this week? Is anyone else having similar problems with it? Will another update to the app be issued soon? If no fix is immediately available, I'll be forced to turn to third party recording apps.
