I copied photos from Mac to iPhone with iTunes earlier. Now I'd like to remove them from iPhone and there isn't iTunes in the Mac book (MacOS Catalina installed). Please suggest how should I remove old photos from iPhone?

In Catalina you will find that Finder has taken over those iTunes functions. Have a look there and come back if you need more help
Plug your phone in an it will appear in Catalina's Finder
Sorry, I haven't find anything in Finder to solve my issue. Could you please send a link where I can read through or screenshot of Finder which you referred to?
