Bitdefender VPN issue

Have Bitdefender Total Security which provides IPad (7th Generation) coverage. Issue is the VPN blocks/stops WiFi connection. Worked fine for a while. Now the “WiFi bars” do not appear at the top. There is a VPN button you can tap to turn it off. But it pops back on immediately. Has anyone experienced this? I emailed Bitdefender support yesterday but they haven’t responded yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.....thanks.
