I think I dont need the Time Capsule, since Time Machine takes the backups.
You don't need a Time Capsule solely for Time Machine backups.
You can use your TimeCapsule as your backup destination. It is possible that you need to add this destination in System Preferences, TimeMachine : https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201250
I'm confused by your question. Those two things serve different functions on each device.
Time Machine on your Mac backs up your Mac to some destination.
The Time Capsule acts as both a WiFi access point / router and as a backup destination.

I thought Time Capsule was only a backup device.
