Ipad charging

When I plug my ipad into the Mac, ipad beeps every 2 sec, battery icon (green) blinks, ipad also blinks in finder and itunes. Have tried several cables, usb scenarios. I only get this with the ipad. Other apple devices work fine. Ipad charges fine on a wall outlet. every device is running current OS and has been rebooted.
