Can I use Time Capsule for computer back-up?

Hello,

I have a 1T Time Capsule that I used to use years ago. I am wondering if I can use it for computer back-up now that I don't use wifi. I have a cable modem that is connected to my Macbook Pro by ethernet cord. The Modem can provide Wifi but I asked the cable company to turn it off.

Is there any way to be able to use the Time Capsule without Wifi, or, if possible, maybe a way to turn on Wifi only to make back-ups and then turn Wifi back off?

You can plug the TC into the main router and use it for backups.. knowing that it is well past its useful life.

Since it only has a 1TB drive the most recent version is 2010 and that makes your TC 9+ years old and very much old N wireless and a poor old disk.

I would not recommend it but you can try it if you wish. Put the TC in bridge and you might need to add a static IP plus turn IPv6 to link local only. The TC wireless will be terrible.. get the cable company to turn wireless back on for the cable modem router.
