Email problem with iphone

I upgraded to iPhone 11 a couple of months ago. From time to time, I will receive an email, delete or file it but it will not leave my phone. I delete it and it comes right back sometimes with a msg that it is formatted incorrectly. The email no longer resides on the host server but it will not leave my phone.

This issue never occurred with any previous iPhone. I am seeking info to determine if this is a phone hardware or ios issue.

Hello normanfromfrisco,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! I understand your email won't completely leave your iPhone. I'm happy to assist you with this.

First, make sure you update your iPhone to iOS 13.3 as it contains the following fixes for Mail which could help you: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • "Fixes issues in Mail that may prevent downloading new messages
  • Addresses an issue that prevented deleting messages in Gmail accounts"

About iOS 13 Updates

If the issue persists, then let's disable the email account by following the following steps:

Open Settings > Accounts and Passwords > (Under Accounts) tap on the account you want to disable > toggle Mail off.

Next, restart the iPhone and enable your email account again to see if the issue persists: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities, and have a great day!
