Sporadic email downloads

Can anyone help? I have an iPhone 11 and it doesn’t always download my emails. Even when I try and fetch the new ones don’t download. They still download on my iPad but not always on my new phone. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Have tried deleting the email account from my phone and then re installing to no great effect. Have checked all the usual culprits.
