I keep having a recurring problem with FCPX 10.4.7 in that I can't export anything. Not even a single frame. The error that continually is given is "this is null"
What does that even mean? How do I fix this so I can export single frames and entire timelines.

Start by deleting preferences. Hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click "Delete Preferences".
Reopen your library and try again.
If it still fails, try creating a new test project, add a clip and do an export. Does that work?

Where is the media stored? What's the drive? How's it connected and formatted? Where are you exporting to?
Is this Catalina?

Tom, this is RED 8k footage, and I'm working in a proxy timeline. Can't export a frame from the movie using the "Save Current Frame" in the Share menu. Also can't currently export the entire movie into a .mov using the Share menu.
Are you trying to export a still image from a project, or something else? Is the frame you're trying to export from a video?
I followed these steps and I was able to export a frame! Thanks so much!
