ADDING A PERSON TO FACES

Apple has combined two family members' photos to one file because they look a lot alike. How do I recreate the other persons face recognition file that has been lost.

I would collect all photos with the wrong person name in an album, so you can easily find them later.

  • Then open the merged people album and select all faces with the wrong name. You need to be in the "faces" view of the people album.
  • Now ctrl-click the selection or right-click it and use the command "This is not ..."
  • In the "View" menu enable "Show Face Names".
  • Now open the album with the photos, that had wrong names. View each photo enlarged.
  • Type the name of the correct person into the name field below the faces circle.

When renaming the wrong faces, use a new name for the person, different from the first name. use a nickname or similar. Do not use the name from the Contact card.

I would also rename all photos of the first person to a different name, to move them to a new People album, to break the link between the two people.
