iPad 10.2 stylus not working

I have a brand new iPad 10.2 and it will not work properly with 2 different non-apple stylus that I've tried. They both work FINE on my iPhone XS and my mom's iPad pro but will not function on my new iPad. Anyone else experience this?

These are "standard" capacitive powered styluses Adonit Snap2 and a cheap "no name" one from Amazon. I really didn't want to spend 100 for the apple pencil as I don't need the touch sensitivity but I'm very disappointed that these don't work.

They both work fine for pushing "buttons" on the screen and changing setting. I tried to use them in procreate, the new Adobe Fresco, and just to write in Notes and all work the same ............ buttons are fine but neither will work on the screen when trying to write or draw.

Yes they're fully charged. I tried re-booting (hard reboot) as well as removing my case just to see if it was causing some strange interferance. Nothing seems to help. It starts to work and then the lines skip and disappear.

iPad, iOS 13
