I have a 2012 iMac using Mac OS high Sierra 10.13.6. How long until I am unable to update it?

I have a 27 inches 2012 iMac using Mac OS high Sierra 10.13.6. I am a producer and I am required to use Logic Pro. Recently someone has told me that the 2012 iMac have like a year after that no more updates which means they will not be running as they were before. My questions are:

How long until 2012 version iMac can not receive updates?
If I no longer receive update and lets say I want to get the latest version of Logic Pro can I install it? or the latest versions are only compatible with latest operating systems.

Apple/Logic Pro usually supports the last two operating systems, that would be Catalina and Mojave. The next release of Logic will probably only support those two. Since the Logic pro releases of 10.4.5, 10.4.6 & 10.4.7 were so bad they should include High Sierra the next release, but don't count on it.

If it's a late 2012 iMac you will be able to install Catalina but it will run like a 3 legged canine, at least the current version will. It's considered the 2nd worst MacOS Apple has released with only the first versions of Lion being rated below Catalina. However, for Logic Pro and audio usesrs it may very well the least stable and poorest performaing MacOS to date.

Go to an older OS and an older version of Logic and it'll run a lot better. Being a 'Producer' relies on skill not what OS or Logic version you're running. Don't worry about it. My old 2008 Mac Pro still runs fine and handles everything tht comes in.
