airpod bluetooth problem

I connected to my friend’s airpods a few days ago and got my own yesterday but i can’t change my set’s name and i suspect it’s cause his are still paired with my iphone but when i forget them they just come back as soon as i go back onto the bluetooth menu, i tried resetting my phone and updating my ios but neither have worked

iPhone X, iOS 13

Hello,

1) Go to Find My > Devices and remove your friend's AirPods

2) Perform a full reset on your AirPods: Reset your AirPods

3) Then do this:

a) Place the new connected AirPods in your ears

b) Go to Settings > Bluetooth and select the circled “i” next to your AirPods 

c) Change the name or anything else on the screen

d) For more detail: Adjust the settings of your AirPods
