There are several older discussions on this, and the answer has not changed.
Not officially supported.
Some have opined that Apple has declined to support this machine going forward because it is an older processor family, and Intel has declined to provide patches for its newly-discovered vulnerabilities, in a group similar to the meltdown attacks discovered and patched a while ago.
Catalina is Not officially supported.
So whatever you do, do NOT do a google search for any way to patch Catalina to make it install anyway on unsupported Macs, or it may void your warranty.
Thanks! It’s a shame since many of us did get metal capable graphics card so we could get Mojave!
Thanks so much, Grant Bennett-Adler
