Can't open mail on MacBook Air

How do I get my Mail icon to open? I double-click on the Mail icon but it won't open.

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.15

Reboot in Safe mode https://support.apple.com/sl-si/HT201262

Be patient: rebooting in safe mode takes a while
