A problem with (supposed) age restrictions in Apple Music (iOS 13.2.3)

Hello!

Could someone help me with an odd issue? When I try to play a song with explicit content in Apple Music on iPhone and iPad (iOS 13.2.3), it's grayed out and I get an alert requiring me to change my age restrictions. However there are no restrictions present in my account and I'm actually too old to have any=)

When I click on Restrictions button in this alert, I'm taken to the Screen Time settings > Content and Privacy, which is, by the way, turned off. Even if I turn it on and choose explicit content for music and podcasts, I'm still unable to play the song. If I turn the Screen Time off completely, the song is still unplayable because of age restrictions.

In iTunes on PC I can play it all right after accepting explicit content in the alert once. I tried restarting the iOS app and even the device itself, nothing changes.

The song in question, by the way, is Psycho by Muse.

Greetings happyoystersvet,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! I understand you're unable to listen to a song with explicit content with Apple Music on your iPad and iPhone. Additionally, you ensured music with explicit content isn't restricted with the Screen Time settings.

I suggest attempting to preview the song with explicit content in the iTunes Store app on your devices, and then try to play the song with Apple Music.

If the issue persists, I suggest to sign out of the iTunes & App Store, sign back in, and then test the behavior. Keep in mind, signing out of the iTunes & App Store will remove music downloaded for offline listening from your device. To sign out, tap Settings > iTunes & App Store, then tap your Apple ID and select Sign Out.

Let me know how it goes from here.

Kind regards.

Hello, Jeremy,

Thank you for your helpful reply. Playing the song in iTunes Store on my iPhone indeed helped to remove all restrictions.

Previously I played it in iTunes on the PC but that didn't help, as well as signing out and then back in iTunes on my iPhone. Only previewing the song in iTunes Store on iPhone did the trick.

Thank you once again!
