to complete it.. in my house I am using two mac's, an iPad, an iPhone, AirPods Pro, 3 Apple Express boxes, an iWatch, an Apple TV box... and no they are not all of the last generation hardware versions and yes all on the newest support softwarelevels .. backwards compatibility has always been strong at apple but it looks fading away..
the problems are simply the startups from Music from whatever hardware source and getting control over the destination airplay box. whether it is not in use, or in use by another source or was in use by another source. Seemingly the airplay speakers don't time out... and only an event of a new source makes it awake, next it probably rejects because still bounded to the former source..and then asking with sleepy eyes ' hey i am busy with someone else, let me ask whether they still need my service', asking... asking... and after some time unpredictable.. ' pff.. they don't react.. well, is the new one still there.. ok I'll connect you.. or falling a sleep again, keeping the former connection actual'...but then reactivating the last active connection.. also problems probably because it does identify a connection on a connection label and not on the source address... well something like this...
it looks as if the airplay protocol has become indeterministic .... well say just buggy...
and dear Apple if you reflect on this as that is all because of the hardware and version mix, then be clear about what works and what not.. instead of let us slowly get more and more dissatisfied..
