Activation Lock problems

My device doesn't recognise my Apple ID, the Activation Lock screen appeared while I was viewing my emails. Now I can't access my IPad. What a frustrating Apple glitch

You need the Apple ID and password that was used when the device was first set up.

If this is a used device, you will need to contact the previous owner to have them log out of iCloud or go to iCloud.com/Find My Phone and erase the device, then remove it from their account. If you can’t do that, the device is useless.

If necessary, if you are the original owner, take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.

or contact Apple ID Support. They will need to see the original purchase receipt/paperwork also.

Thanks Eric however I have tried signing in with the original Apple ID but the device doesn't accept it. I have spent hours trying to chat wirh Apple Support to no avail. All my nonApple devices have a back up support contact where after verification of the user, they can reset the ID's and allow you to continue using your device. It was frustrating when i was sending emails when the Activation Lock screen appeared and now I can't access my device. I'm ditching this IPad and getting a Tablet

I bought this Ipad in 2015 ... i live out in rural Australia and hours away from an Apple store. It's very archaic to take purchase receipts to a store when everything now is done online. I've had no trouble with my tablets as any technical issues were solved immediately after one phone call. This Activation Lock system is frustrating and resolution methods outdated.

If you have the original purchase receipt contact Apple ID Support. You may have better luck calling than chatting.
