I’m in an app that’s says download new catalog but the catalog is unable to download...on my android device it downloaded right away, but I can’t get it on my iPhone XS MAX...Could it have something to do with downloading from an unknown source? If that is the case, where do I go to change the setting to be able to download from unknown sources? I’ve looked and can’t find the option...

There isn't an option for an iOS device for unknown source, like with macOS.
Was this app originally downloaded from the App Store? If so, make sure that it's updated: Update apps or use automatic downloads
