Accented letters on Mac - e.g. French é


  1. To type an accented or alternate version of a character, hold a key down until its alternate characters are displayed. To choose one of the characters displayed, type the number that appears under the character, or click the character you want to use.
  2. Acute Accent ( é ): Press “e” (the letter e), while holding the “option” key, take your finger off the option key then press “e” again. Grave Accent ( à, è, ù ): Press ” ` ” (apostophe), while holding down the “option” key, then press either “a”, “e” or “u”.
