I got an alert that someone had signed in with my Apple ID to a new iPhone then I received about 10 messages in Chinese from different numbers. I changed my Apple ID password but should I be concerned about the security of my phone? What else should I do?

The password change should be enough. You can also add 2 Factor Authentication to your account for more security. If the attempts continue, you might want to consider a name change.
