Photos - Stuck in B&W Adjust

In Apple Photos Adjust, I am stuck in black and white. I want to return to the regular color setting. Articles mention going to Options. I have no Options in Adjust. I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 . Any ideas? Thanks!

I am not sure, how you are stuck. Is a photo black and white and cannot be reverted, or are the color controls missing in the adjustment panel?

  • If the photo is stuck on Black-And-White, try the Revert to Original button in Edit Mode.
  • If the color controls are missing, remember, that the adjustment panel can be scrolled. Check, if the missing options are just out of sight.
  • You can add options, by clicking the very fain blue button "Add", as described in the Photos Help, see: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht335dba352
  1. Click the Adjust button .
  2. Click the Add button at the top-right corner of the pane, then choose each tool you want to appear in the Adjustments pane, so a checkmark appears next to it.

Thanks for the tips. I was on the phone with Apple Support today for about 30 minutes. We never found an answer. My husband was editing a color photo in Photos. He moved the mouse without looking and his screen changed. In Adjust mode, the options were now Intensity, Neutrals, Tone, Grain, etc. Before they were options like Exposure, Highlights, Shadows, Brightness, Contrast, Black Point. Somehow he hit something that specified a preference to work only on black and white photos rather than color/black and white. With Apple Support, we went over all of the possibilities you have kindly suggested, but the app remains stuck on preference for black and white (which is the best way I can describe it). He can't really work on color photos any more. We went back and started using iPhoto again.
