I attempted to update my iPhone 8, I received a message to go to apple support along with a picture of a laptop and a charger. I have spoken with apple, my phone is turned off and will not turn back on. They suggest taking it to an authorized apple dealer. Any advice?
Anything that wasn't backed up is already gone if it's in recovery mode.

Instead of restoring, just click 'update' in itunes
Your iPhone is in recovery mode. You need to use a computer to restore it.
You can use a friend's or make an appointment at an Apple store if you don't own one.

How do I do that? I have it connected to my laptop. Will this erase everything on the phone?
