Couldn’t modify partition map. : (-69874)

external exfat drive is missing partial data and i get "Couldn’t modify partition map. : (-69874)" error when i scan the parent drive under disk utility first aid .

what is going on ? anyone have any FSCK diskutil terminal commands for repair ?

its a high quality SSD that seems to be healthy according to Windows error checking tool and Mac first aid and WD Drive Utilities and EASE US partition master surface test scans .

all these scans show a healthy and repaired drive . except im missing data , and mac first aid proves that , by showing me an error code which makes sense since this is all yuckyyy . im glad that mac first aid is the only one that is proving there is a problem , because all these other software tools act like everything is all fine with the drive .

additionally , the drive is refusing to be imaged or recovered by software .

im sensing that if i format it , the error will be fixed - since the hardware is beautiful and has not been damaged . i just dont enjoy formatting drives just to resolve a minor issue . its very sloppy to delete all my data over an error lol .

if you have any terminal commands for FSCK diskutil , maybe that can repair the mapping issue and fix this kink ?

your help is appreciated ! cheers !

I'm not sure what this error is, but I don't believe the command line will produce any different results.

Run DriveDX to see if you can get the health report for the SSD. You may need to install a special USB driver to allow DriveDX to be able to communicate with the USB drive. Even with this special driver the controller on the external drive may not allow the necessary communication to pass through to the actual SSD. If DriveDX can access the health information on the SSD, then post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.

I'm not sure what software you are using to image the drive, but have you tried Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC)? If you can mount & access the drive, then CCC should be able to image the drive or copy the data if the drive is not producing too many I/O errors.
