connecting an Apple TV to a public WiFi

Hello,

I am sorry for my poor english level, but I am usually french speaking.

Here is my problem : I would like to connect my Apple TV, third generation, to a public WiFi hotspot (Proximus in Belgium). I can see this Proximus Public WiFi in the WiFi connections possibilities. But, when I try to reach this WiFi, I have a message from my Apple TV telling me that this connection requires to install a profile on my apple TV. I made some researches on the web, but I didn't find any solution (instead using Apple Configurator, but I only have a PC).

Does somebody know a solution for me ?

You can’t. The Apple TV has no browser and thus can’t connect the way your iPad did. That is why you will need to talk to a network administrator to see about gaining access, and if the network blocks access to certain ports then the Apple TV may not even be able to function properly

Public networks require authentication via webpage and that is not possible on an Apple TV. You would need a network administrator to help access the network.

If the WiFi network requires that you log in through a web page, you can't connect your Apple TV to it.

another thing is many public wifi networks only allow internet access on port 80 (the browser port)

If it requires the installation of a profile, you can't connect your Apple TV to the network.

Thanks for your answer. This morning, I went on my iPad to connect it on the public WiFi. I had to allow my Proximus account to create a profile connection for my iPad and, after that to allow the profile on the iPad. Isn't it possible with the Apple TV ?

Thank you to all of you, but I don't know how to tonnect to the web page of the public wifi, while trying to establish the wifi connection, as my apple TV ask me to install a profile ...

Here is the exact message coming from the apple tv :

"The network you are trying to connect to requires a profile to be installed on your Apple TV. For more information, see support/appletv."

My Wifi network doesn't require to log through a weg page. It connection requires to install a profile as I told sooner. That's the message who appeares on the connection page on the Apple TV

No, as I said those authorizations are done via webpage and can’t be done on Apple TV. As stated by the other poster the network may also have limitations in regards to connections, or certain features may be disabled. At any rate you will need to speak to the network administrator

Yes it does. Again, that authorization is done via webpage when done on the other device. As I said you will need to speak to a network administrator as that is the only possible way to gain access, if at all possible, and certain functions may be disabled.
