iPhones in different countries

If I buy an iPhone while on holiday in New Zealand will it work OK in the UK with a UK network provider etc?

Apologies if this a stupid question, I've just had the night mare of having my phone stolen while 2weeks into a 3month trip. Ideally I don't want to have to wait until I get home to replace my handset (11 Pro Max) but I don't want to buy a product if it's going to be different or not work.

I've been searching through the site but I can't find the answer I'm looking for - can anyone help? As you can tell from the question, I'm not super-techie so please feel free to use small words and speak slowly...

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD, APPLE TV AND HOMEPOD SERVICE.

Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and HomePod to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

All iPhone models are world phones, so you can use them almost anywhere. Whether you are a GSM or CDMA network customer, you can roam internationally on GSM networks in over 200 countries or regions around the world. Availabilitys of LTE data varies in some countries or regions and depends on carrier support for certain LTE radio frequencies. Contact your wireless carrier for more information regarding international roaming policies and rates.
