scam calls

I've received several calls from Apple Inc. saying that my account has had suspicious activity. I've ignored these but needed to be sure it was a scam call. Can you help me understand Apples policy?

Apple does not make unsolicited phone calls. Also see: Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
