Wheres the up swipe?

On my iPhone 8+ I was able to swipe up and get to all sorts of things. Why can I not do that on my iPhone XR? All the things I used to be able to do at a quick swipe are all gone.

The control center on the X and 11 series phones is access by swiping down from the upper right corner.
