image capture with HP scanner

Recently purchased an iMac and upgraded to Catalina 10.15.2. Previously had a Windows 7 computer. I have been able to connect the HP 960 printer with no problems but when I try to connect the HP ScanJet G4050, I have not been successful. Seems the HP drivers have some issues with the latest Catalina upgrade. So, it was recommended I use Image Capture that comes with my new Mac. When I open Image Capture, I see the G4050 Scanner listed there but then, I eventually get a message that says: "Failed to open Connection to Device (-21355). How do I resolve this issue so I can use the scanner?

PS: The printer is older than the scanner and the scanner is still being sold by HP
