How can I remove an old Apple ID without erasing my iPhone
You can sign out of an Apple ID in Settings>Your Name. The option to sign out is at the bottom of the screen in red text. Though it should be noted that you will be required to enter your Apple ID password in order to sign out of this account if Find My iPhone is enabled. If you don't know your Apple ID password, then you'll need to reset it. You can find those instructions here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487.

There are no settings. Did you enter the correct password for the old ID when you tapped Log Out?
There is no send receive under messages No id listed either
Go to Settings/{your name}, scroll to the bottom and tap Sign Out. Do the same for Settings/Messages, Settings/FaceTime, Settings/iTunes & App Stores.

No only turned off iMessage under messages. Not prompted for pass iMessage not listed in settings
