itunes not recognizing ipod

I have 7 iPod 160gb classics. All 7 are recognized as a device in Windows 10, but only 6 are being recognized in iTunes. The 7th iPod is the most full (only 2.77GB remain and it shows up in Windows 10 highlighted in RED); so is that the reason why iTunes isn't recognizing it?

I've already tried multiple wire connections and ALL my USB ports to no avail. I've even scanned the iPod and found no problems. I've also re-started iTunes. Nothing seems to work.

Can someone please advise what else I can do to troubleshoot this, as I believe I should be able to fill the device to capacity if I chose to.

Your advice and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there regentpark3,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand your iPod is not being recognized by iTunes. I’ll be happy to help with this.

Go through the steps in this link for what to do if iTunes doesn’t recognize your iPhone:

If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

I hope this helps.

Try iOS device not showing in iTunes for Windows - Apple Community. It is the same general process you've seen before, but with some additional information that might help. You could also try placing the device in disk mode and connect it before launching iTunes to see if that has any impact on visibility in iTunes.

Thanks for your assistance. I had already applied every suggestion other than #7 multiple times, but nothing worked. And to do #7 I'd have to have another computer with the same version of iTunes on it, and I don't have that access.

So I had no choice but to chat with Apple Support who essentially said "tough luck" as they called the 160GB iPod classic a "vintage" device they no longer support.

Ironically they had no comment for my other 6 160GB iPod classics which WERE recognized by iTunes; so I don't believe being a "vintage" device is the issue. The ONLY difference between this iPod and the other 6 is that this is the fullest, with only 2.75GB of free space remaining. I thought maybe that had something to do with the iTunes recognition problem, but Apple Support steered clear of commenting on that.

One other point I must note since every answer I get points to my device not being recognized by my computer. Each of these devices is fully recognized by Windows 10 and EACH functions fine on standalone performance. The issue is iTunes is not recognizing the device and that's a very different animal.
