How can I connect my lightning wired headphone?

I can't use my lightning wired headphones because the only sound that will come out when I insert it to the lightning port, is a beeping sound. How can I fix this problem?

My lightning headphones connect, but the sound still comes from the phones speakers I just got my iPhone 13 Pro 2 weeks ago. I got a new pair of lightning headphones to use with with them. When I plug in the headphones, a beep comes through so I know they connect and are capable of sound. But, when I try to play music or YouTube videos, the sound still comes from the speakers. Is there a fix for this, or do I need to buy another pair of headphones?

Do your headphones work if connected to a different iPhone (borrow one from your friends)?

If they work, it might be a matter of cleaning your iPhone's lightning charging port.
