Apparently, my iPhone 6S is too old to pair with an Apple Watch 3 which I just received as a gift. Shouldn't the Apple Store have told the buyer you need a newer phone in order to use?? So frustrating. Is there any way around this? My 6S still works great so I'm not ready to replace quite yet just in order to use my new Apple Watch.

Make sure you've updated your phone to the current version of iOS, 13.3.
My phone is IOS 13. The Apple Store in Roseville, MN told me last night that I need a new phone than an 6S to use my Apple Watch.

Your new apple watch 3 will have watchos6 on it.
An iphone 6s is just fine for your apple watch 3 just make sure you update the phone to ios13 before you start setting the watch up.
