The cellular watch and the phone have to be with the same network provider,if you're with O2 then the watch will function as a GPS only watch unless you take out a cellular plan with O2.
Is this a cellular watch or GPS only?.
You could always ask O2 if this is possible,a couple of other options;
Swap your phone with your boyfriend.
Cancel O2 and join EE.
Return the watch and buy one from O2.
