Restore file’s default icon

I had opened a Premiere project by “open with” and selecting “Premiere Pro 2020” as default app. Now i don’t see the magenta standard icon of a prproj file, but I have the icon with a blank paper with the Premiere Pro logo on it.

How can I fix this? How can I restore the default icon for a prproj file?

You can try control click open the file>Open with> Use as default

see if this sticks.

In the latest macOS there has been some changes that may not allow your icon to come back.

What icon does it show— you may be able to delete that app maybe not depending to force it back to your Pr.

You can try from Terminal Rebuild launch service —however I have not tested this with Catalina.

from terminal copy & paste:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain u -domain s -domain l -v

Restore file’s default icon
