Upgraded from an Iphone 6 to 8 now everytime we hit an app this horrible menu pops up. How do we turn it off?

This phone is defective and it brings up the menu 80% of the time. I have same phone and it doesn't not do the same thing, but either way we both would like to turn off this feature. It's quite annoying.
do not hold the app just press it and not to hard it might also be an update for the app
Instead of long tapping an icon, simply tap it for a split second. Long tapping any icon will invoke the popup menu items.
Not resolved, not sure why it says it is.
Go to Settings-Accessibility-3D Touch and check out the sensitivity setting. You may have it set too sensitive. Or you can just switch it off in the same screen.
