changing Airport extreme to Netgear ac3000

I would like to change my present Wi-fi router from Apple’s AirPort Extreme to Netgear’s Orbi ac3000. But I have a doubt:

Once I install the new Orbi router what happens with the different devices connected to the AirPort Extreme via Ethernet cables? For example my Arlo camera security and other similar devices? Do I have to change anything in these devices or will they work as usual once I connect the cables to the router?

I would not worry about it.. IMHO it is much better to leave the Orbi running its native IP setup. Plus the wireless setup of the Orbi is very different anyway.. so clients using the wireless from Orbi will need reconfiguring.

For stuff on ethernet they are even easier. Most will just work.

Simply shut down everything in the network and remove the airport and replace it with Orbi. Start just one computer or whatever device you wish to do the setup. I presume the Orbi is taking over as the main router??

Once the Orbi is working as expected start up all the devices. The only ones that could give you issues are those with fixed IP from previous setup. Very few will exist.. most will be DHCP. Anything that fails you can reset to factory and do the configuration.

If you configure your new Orbi system to use the same IP addresses as that which your AirPort Extreme was using, then any wired client connected to the Orbi should not need any additional configuration changes, other than power cycling them.

One thing to note is that the AirPorts use the 10.0.x.x local IP address range by default. Most non-Apple routers typically work in the 192.168.x.x range ... so, potentially, your Ethernet clients would get a different IP address. Of course, I'm assuming that each of these clients are configured to be DHCP clients and receive their IP address info from the DHCP service in the router.
