If I have already moved all my files to a new Macbook, do I still need to create a backup on the old Macbook before trading it in? This is for receiving credit from Apple.

If you're sure you're not missing anything on your new Macbook (check twice) and you are going to trade in your old one: no.

Forgot to say: don't wait with making a backup of your new Mac. Even if it's new, things can go wrong and you don't want to lose files
