Supervised Device restored to a Supervised Device

When you have an iOS device supervised by Apple Configurator, and it comes time to upgrade that device, how do you take a backup of the existing device and restore it onto a newly supervised device without loosing the "supervised" status of the new device (Supervised Device to Supervised Device) - essentially trying to migrate device's data to a new device.

Using Configurator's backup and restore hasn't work. Using iTunes backup and restore during the setup of the new device hasn't worked. I have yet to do the iCloud restore route, but that doesn't deliver a full restore if the user has 50GB or photos (for example).

Am I missing something, or does Supervision only allow for an iCloud migration?

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! That’s an excellent question you have about restoring specific user information to a supervised device. You’re correct that iCloud will be the proper method for retaining user information, such as photos. Check out this article for more information to Back up and restore devices - Apple Configurator 2 Help. Specifically:

"You can manually set up one device the way you want it, back it up in Apple Configurator 2, and then restore that backup to your other devices. If you want to back up a single user’s data and restore it for only that user, use iCloud Backup instead."

The interior of the iPad may be damaged due to the screen crack, if the buttons are unresponsive or the display is glitchy your best bet is to try to fix the display on IFixit.com or take it to an Apple Store.

I bought a used iPad from the Goodwill store and now I can't unlock it the screen is cracked but it still works can you please help me
